Saturday Challenge # 4

So today over the kaisercraft blog they are having their 4th Saturday Challenge and they wanted to see some Fathers Day cards ... I've found that men typically don't like tizzy cards so I try and keep them simple ... these first few are made using the older 'Sears and Son' Collection...

And these last couple are some great little paper origami shirt cards made using some more Sears and Sons papers and elements ( the tie stickers) and papers from the 'Technologic' Collection.

The little origami shirts are just adorable and so easy to make! THIS IS A LINK to a You Tube clip on how to make these.... I love this clip because you can actually hear the family hollering at each other in the background!! LOL ... It's nice to know I'm not the only one ;)

Sear & Son Fathers Day Gift

I just thought I would pop by with a very quick gift idea using the Sears & Son Collection and a memo frame. These memo frames actually came with a 2009 calendar attached, but I've tossed the calendar and poped in a memo pad instead ... something that will be much more useful for my husband! I've got the memo frame on sale for $2.00 each so this is a great little inexpensive gift idea for Fathers Day!
Even kids could knock up a gift like this one for dad in no time at all , just paint and stick embellishments on ... too easy!
I hope you have all enjoyed pulling together something special for the men in your lives!
Cheers from Kel.

Sat. Sketch Aug #3 2012

So this week I'm sticking with the Sears & Son Collection for the Sketch ... I also added in a bit of paper from the Hunt & Gather Collection just to give it that 'bush' feel since I was doing this funny photo of the kids in a giant ceramic snake. You can't see it very well from the photos but the title above the snake and kids in the photo says ... 'Get Closer' ... and thats where my title for the page ties in!
Here is the sketch it was based on...

Thanks so much for visiting folks...
Cheers from Kel.

Sears and Son Layout

Today I'm sharing another layout with the Sears & Son Collection. I'm really enjoying being able to get though some of my mountains of boy photos!! LOL

This time I was challenged to use a 'steam punk' theme ... something difficult for one so in love with all things shabby chic... but I gave it my best hit and put all the cogs I could on the page in the spirit of true steam punk style. Truthfully it's not really as grungy as true steam punk would dictate, but it's a pretty good marriage of steam punk and MY style!

The acetate clocks were the easiest part of the whole page, Kaisercraft have a whole sheet of them consisting of different size clocks so all you have to do is cut them out and stick them in where ever you want ... too easy!

With the chipboard wood flourishes I spray painted them with mat black paint and then embossed with clear crystals over the top of that to give them that shiny look.

Finally I have more of those cute little playing cards scattered about the place ... what do they represent? what are they about? whats make them so popular at the moment? Who knows ... but I like them, I think they are so cute I've used them on every project I've done for the last two weeks!! LOL

Anyway, thanks for looking, I hope you have a very creative day yourself!
Smiles from Kel.

Sears and Son Cards

Today I'm here to share some simple Sears & Son cards ... with Fathers day just around the corner Kaisercraft have done a great job bringing us a collection thats both earthy and classic but also really easy to work with. I didn't have a lot time on my hands when I made these cards but all it took was one piece of double sided paper, the matching sticker sheet and a few buttons...

Thus proving that card making can be easy, affordable AND FUN!
Some other good ideas for elements in this sticker sheet is to use the ties as banners and the moustaches cut in half as birds.

I hope you are all busy out there knocking up some cards for the special men in your lives for this Fathers Day... good luck with it all.
Cheers from Kel.

Class with Melissa Kennedy...

While I was down in Melbourne last month I had the privilege of doing a class with the fabulous Melissa Kennedy from Kaisercraft and this is the layout we created with the Sears & Son Collection.
I came home with most of it finished and then added a few bits and pieces as I tend to do ... like the acetate clocks - they were a add in after the fact!

This new mens range is really earthy and gentle, it's great to play with and will suit and kind of vintage or heritage themes a person might want to work with.

On a personal note ... I can fully vouch that the handsome man in these photos really is the greatest dad ever!! LOL
Have a great day.
Smiles from Kel.
