Saturday Sketch #5 March 2013

For the sketch today I have used the Lulu and Roy Collection.

I really like the way this collection can be both masculine and feminine at the same time!!?
The sketch was an easy one to follow and the collectables pack in this range had LOADS of embellies to chose from so this page came together quite easily in the end.

when I look at this layout I realise all over again that photos REALLY DO look better presented in scrapbook pages ... this is why I love doing this hobby! LOL

Thanks for looking...

Saturday Sketch #4 March 2013

For todays Saturday Sketch I've used the delightful new Bundle of Joy Collection.
And just to prove it's not only for baby pages, I've done this layout of my daughter on her 5th birthday... she loves all things pink and pretty, so this collection was just perfect for it.

I must admit I got a tad excited with this layout and kind of forgot about the sketch...
It's still based on the sketch and you can kind of see it in there... if you squint your eyes just right!!! LOL

Anyway, I loved the butterflies and cherubs in this collection so I've used as many as possible on this page and in the end I decided to make my own vine of flowers. it's amazing the way as scrapbooking evolves you find yourself circling back around to techniques and tools that have been sitting in the draw unused for years. I'm currently rediscovering all my old punches... and wondering why I ever stopped using them?

Anyway... this is the sketch below that the layout was based on...

Thanks for stopping by for a look.
Cheers from Kel.

Forget-me-not Cards

These cards were simply a delight to make from the Forget-me-not collection!! I'm loving all the gold accented pages that you can find in the 6.5" paper pad... and I'm still reveling in the joy of making square cards ... why I didn't convert to this format a long time ago I'll never know!!LOL

I kept the cards pretty simple as usual, just using a few of the Collectables to decorate the beautiful papers with and a little bit of bling ... a little bit of bling really seems to make a difference to any project.

I also find that the cards with something 3D on them always sell first, people seem to like a bit of meat on their cards ... must have more of a hand made feel to them? Or maybe it just seems like more bang for your buck? In any case I always 3D something on my cards these days for this very reason ... either with a 3D flower or a die cut raised up on 3D tape.

Thanks for popping over for a look...
Have a wonderful day.

Sat. Sketch #2 Oct 2012

This week I have used the Periwinkle Collection for the Saturday Sketch comp over at the
This was a hard one for me ... being round ... I don't usually stray too far from the 12 x 12 format, so I kind of couldn't help myself popping the circle back into the normal page context! LOL

I'm still loving the ballons and birds that are abounding in scrapbooking at the moment and can't help sticking a bird on pretty much every page I ever do at the moment!

This photo is an old family one that I used because of the orange tones that suited these papers so well.. I'm really enjoying the Periwinkle collection and the Australian Scrapbook Ideas magazine recently picked up one of my layouts for publishing using this collection also ... so YAY for Periwinkle!!

Thanks for looking...
Cheers from Kel.

Turtle Dove Fun

Well this is the last layout for me using the Turtle Dove Collection ... the truth is I just couldn't help myself when it came to this beautiful Christmas die cut paper ... you can see the pannel running down the left side of the page ... this paper is pre cut with this pattern in it and it's just divine! i've seen this used several different ways now and it's always stunning. Here is the paper itself...

Anyway besides this gorgeous paper I've just used some coordinating papers from the paper pad and a heap of dies from the collectables pack ... it's then just finished off with some buttons and bling ( I love bling at Christmas time LOL).

Thanks for looking,

Turtle Dove Cards

Today I have some cards made using the divine Turtle Dove Collection ... I love this traditional Christmas collection... it reminds me of all the old English Christmas cards I grew up with!! LOL

Pearls and ribbons are of course the perfect companion to these papers... the only difficulty I encountered in making these cards was that I was constantly tempted to go over the top and decorate them to death!! I only wanted to make simple cards and sticking to that manifesto was an effort with such gorgeous coordinating embellishments.... it's good problem to have! LOL
Have a great day...

Sat. Sketch #3 Sep. 2012

For this weeks Saturday Sketch I have used the beautiful new Turtle Dove Collection... How divine these rich traditional colours are... this particular collection embodies everything I love about Christmas. It has a bit of the modern mixed with a touch of the traditional English Christmas.

For this layout I knew I was going to have to make something a bit special as this photo of my little one is soooo bad ... its a bit fuzzy, the top of her head is missing and the flash has over exposed the whole thing ... but I LOVED this photo, I remember how fascinated my little girl was with the angles on the Christmas tree, so I was determined to use it!

 I call this technique
'Making a Mountain out of a Molehill'!

My theory here is that it doesn't matter how bad your original photo is if you build the feel of the theme you are presenting with your layout then then the photo will look fabulous anyway....
I'll let you know how that theory works out LOL...
Have a great weekend

This is the Sketch the layout was based on.

Mint Twist Christmas Stocking

The Mint Twist Collection was just too bright and fun not to have a bit of a play with ... I don't usually do a lot of Beyond the Page projects, but I couldn't resist this gorgeous Christmas stocking ... it was a bit of fun to make and in the end all I used to decorate all 5 stockings was the collectables pack, the paper pad and some bling!
Now I have cards, layouts and decorations made for Christmas 2012 ... I feel like I'm definitely going to  be prepared this Christmas for a change !! LOL
Cheers from Kel.

Mint Twist Cards

Well today I'm back with more Christmas cards ... this time made from the Mint Twist Collection These are very basic cards that were quick and easy to put together ( Just the way Christmas cards should be!!) using the Paper Pad and the Collectables from this fun collection. Of course I added the obligatory Christmas Bling and some ribbons here and there, but mostly the papers and collectables did all the work for me! LOL
I hope you have been gearing up for the up and coming silly season... I'm thrilled to have made over 20 cards already and feeling like I'll actually be organised this year!
Have a great day, smiles from Kel.

Twig and Berry Cards

Well I'm back with more Twig and Berry Collection ... this time it's cards ... you can NEVER start to early when it comes to Christmas Cards!!
This would have to be my favourite collection this year, with the rich reds and greens I love in Christmas but not too European or American in it's themes either!
I had quite a go at that Tim Holtz rosette die as you can see from these cards and my previous layout... thats because I think these concertina flowers are the perfect compromise for flowers at Christmas!
These were incredibly easy cards to put together as they are just made fron one piece of paper for the back grounds and some collectables raised up on 3D tape, add a little bit of ribbon or bling and there you have it!
Thanks for dropping by for a look... Smiles from Kel : )
