Saturday Sketch #4 May 2013

Once again this week for the Saturday Sketch I have used the On This Day Collection
I just love it and can't seem to put it down! LOL

For todays sketch I decided to go with a beachy photo so I dragged out my old 'Off Shore' stamp set... who remembers that one?

It was one of the first collections that Kaisercraft started releasing in actual collections .... it is still one of my favourites to this day! Every time I need to make something that resembles the beach, out comes this particular wave stamp... nothing says surf to me more than this stamp!

The shell at the bottom is a more recent stamp from the 'Rockpool Collection'. The rest of the page is a lot of ink and scribble!!

It kind of resembles the Sketch ... I was following it, but got quite carried away.... It does look like it if you turn the sketch upside down and squint your eyes!? LOL

So here is the original Sketch from Kaisercraft...

Thanks for stopping by for a look.
Cheers from Kel.

Saturday Sketch #3 May 2013

For this weeks Sketch I've used the On This Day Collection.

This was quite a simple sketch and I couldn't help tizzing it up a bit! LOL

After doing this layout I now firmly believe I'm completely addicted to frames .. I was looking back over all my layouts for the year and sure enough they all have a frame or boarder around the edge of the page ... as it turns out I just can't live without a page frame! I've decided this is just going to have to be my thing now as I love pages done this way.

Anyway... theres not a lot of product on this page at all so it was a nice quick one to pull together.

I actually really like sketches like this that we can dress up ourselves... simple bases with unlimited potential! LOL

Thanks for stopping by for a look.

On This Day Layout

Ahhhh... Romance! The On This Day Collection is awesome.
I'm a sucker for all things to do with romance and I just couldn't resist doing the great big heart thing with this page!!

I have really gone to town with the inking on this layout and I must confess I think it's the element that really makes it ... giving it a more shaded and romantic feel than just the stark paper would if left alone.

Of course the pearl flourishes and soft muslin in the back ground help to create the romantic feel as well. I really love this quote and it suits the people in this photo perfectly which always helps!

All the flowery elements in this layout are from the collectables pack and the wood flourishes are all from Kaisercraft. Only that very cool harlequin background stamp is not from Kaisercraft... I got that from a friend who does Kazzazz ... it's so gorgeous! I find myself wanting to use it on every page I do!! LOL
Well thanks for stopping by for a look.
Have a great day.
Cheers from Kel.

Saturday Sketch #1 May 2013

Todays Saturday Sketch is a busy one! I've used the Porcelain Rose Collection again this time.
I rarely do pages with this many photos on it and it was a bit of fun to put together this arrangement!!

I stuck with the busy theme and kept lots of movement on the page as well as keeping as closely to the original sketch as I could. I also gladly took up the journaling challenge ... I think it's important to do this kind of page every now and then, and really tell the story.

Anyway, this is the sketch it's all based on...

Thanks for stopping by for a look.

Porcelain Rose Layout

Today I'm introducing the beautiful new Porcelain Rose Collection from Kaisercraft.

This is a divinely beautiful collection that is full of delightful bird images... this sort of thing is HUGELY popular at the moment all over the world in scrapbooking circles of course and I'm really happy to see Kaisercraft is quite able to follow suit! LOL

On this page I have used the speciality Die cut paper sheet as my main feature, and this this paper is nothing if not special!! Apart from the gorgeous frame the original paper has the gorgeous flowers and bird already printed on it and highlighted with rich gloss varnish  The music notes and other floral background images are also already printed on the paper.... how beautiful it is and how easy it was to work with. I basically just added the photo, a journaling pannel and some 3D flowers.

I love it when paper makes your job so easy because sometime when it comes to scrapping I just want to kick back and enjoy instead of working for every element on a page.

Thanks for popping by for a look.
Cheers from Kel.

Australian Scrapbook Ideas Magazine Issue #20

Fabulous news to share today... I've just had another feature published in the Australian Scrapbook Ideas Magazine, this time a set of three double page layouts.
I loved doing these commissions... my editor Sue Smyth gives fantastic guidelines and feedback that makes working for this magazine a true pleasure.
If you haven't got a copy of this yet, run out and grab one... it's another great issue packed full of layouts to admire and techniques to inspire!!

Here are the 3 doubles I have in this issue...
The one above has been done using the 365 Days Collection from Kaisercraft.
And the two layouts below were made  using papers from the Timeless Paper Pad.

Thanks for stopping by...

Lavender Haze Layout

Just a quick post today ... this is a layout I made using the new Lavender Haze Collection.

This a surprisingly good collection to work with, usually I'm not attracted to anything very pastel, but the redeeming feature for this range is that it also contains a strong set of bolder colours as well and those wonderful black grunge marks and flourish swirls that appear on many of the pages.

I do love this photo of my daughter, but I have had it sitting in my photo stash for ages as it just seemed too dark to use. But this collection was perfect for it ... a bit of black to compliment the darkness in the photo but lots of light colours to lift the photo up out of the darkness as well.

Do you have any darker girls photos that you find difficult to scrap? Well this might just be the collection you have been looking for to help you with that!

Thanks for visiting...
Cheers from Kelly-ann.

Saturday Sketch #2 March 2013

Well this week I have used the Lavender Haze Collection for my Saturday Sketch.... this whole collection is just perfect for little girls!

The sample page for the sketch this week was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and inspired me no end. This is the sketch that it's based on...

I mostly used a whole lot of border punches and ink on this page... the ink I used was quite a bright red one ... I always use a red ink when working with pinks as I think it frames all pink tones wonderfully.

O have also used the large stamp that came with this collection to make this flourish image...

I'm still so impressed with Kaisercraft stamps... they are so diverse and beautiful and as you can see, match the collections perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by for a look.
Cheers from Kelly-ann.

Saturday Sketch #2 Feb 2013

For this weeks Saturday Sketch I have used the beautiful
Butterfly Kisses Collection released a few months back ...
it was perfect for my miss matched photo of one of my little daughter all dressed up and asleep!

The sketch was easy to follow and the embellishments in this collection lent themselves to the task beautifully.

I have used my favourite Martha Stewart punch (Cherish) around the outside of this page and I feel like it really makes it.... and of course no page is complete for me until I've managed to get a few butterflies in there! LOL

Here is the sketch its all based on:
Thanks for stopping by for a look.

Suga Pop Layout

OK, so I'm going to call this layout I did with the Suga Pop Collection a failed experiement.
I know you dont often hear this here ... but i don't like this page!
Just being honest.

I was stepping out on a branch and using a heavily patterened paper as a background. Now I know why I steer clear of this kind of scrapping!! I must confess I find this layout too busy for my liking ... or maybe too crowded is a better word!?

In any case I lack the skills to pull this kind of back ground paper off, so perhaps this will be the first and last of this kind of experiment you will find on my blog! LOL

I hope your scrapping has been progressing at a far better pace than my own...
Smiles and a wink from Kel.

Sat. Sketch #1 Feb 2013

This sketch was a real chalenge... and I was determined to just use one colour this time from the
Suga Pop Collection so this one was a real stretch for me!

I love that Kaisercraft always come out with an Easter collection each year... it means I'm up to date with at least these kinds of photos as each Easter I scrap up the photos from the year before. But when I found this old one of my big girl who started school last week I couldn't resist ... look at that chocolate face!! LOL

Anyway, this time the wood flourishes and background stenciling are the heros of the page which I was really happy with in the end. I must confess I'm not a huge fan of Owls as embellishments  but By-George they big in scrapbooking circles these days, so I just went with it ... it's good to move out of the usual and try something different!?

Here is the sketch that it is all based on...

Thanks for stopping by for a look.
