Sat. Sketch #4 Nov. 2012

Well I LOVED the sketch this week over at the Kaisercraft Blog!
I have used the Miss Match Collection to attempt to replicate this sketch with my own flavour mixed in. I think it is the round element that captures me so much about this sketch ... I just adore round elements on any page! LOL

I've also added a few resin flowers, paper blooms and a wood flourish bird, but everything else on this page pretty much came out of the Miss Match paper collection be they collectables, stickers or paper pad elements. I did finish it all off with a pearl flourish and some rhinestones scattered about the place, but all in all this page came together satisfyingly quickly and easily.... if only all pages were the same!

Thanks for stopping by for a look.
Cheers from Kelly-ann.

Australian Scrapbook Ideas

I've been published in the Australian Scrapbook Ideas Magazine again this month ... I don't usually mention when this happens, but a friend recently told me to get my act together and put myself out there... so this is my attempt at showing off! LOL

The layout above was on page 32 in the Designers Gallery and the 3 layouts below were for an article I wrote on scrapping your holiday photos (pages 18 - 23).

It's always sooooo exciting to see yourself published ...
even if you dont feel up to entering layouts for publication, if you would like to see yourself in print I know that the magazine is always keen to hear from their readers ... they publish these letters in the 'Scrap Chat' section of the mag. and are even introducing prizes for these letters,
so why not give that hit?  You can email your letters to them at
 letters@practicalpublishing.com.au

Thanks for stopping by for a look.

Merry and Bright

This final layout that I have made with the Merry and Bright Collection is a nice simple one ... I love the chinese lanterns and as always, the asian feel of this whole collection.

I did some masking with a crafters workshop template that had these adorable tiny leaves on it ... you will definitely be seeing more of these on my pages ... I LOVE them! LOL

I'm also still a big fan of using the border stamps to create an almost wrought iron window frame feel for pages, and Kaisercraft have come out with some stunning border stamps lately, so I'm quite pleased with that!

Anyway, thanks for dropping by...

Merry and Bright Layout

Today I'm sharing one of the layouts I've made using the Merry and Bright Collection. As usual I've completely ignored the Christmas theme these papers were intended for and followed a more retro/oriental theme.

I must confess a crime of connivence here as well ... the outside border is a Martha Stuart punch that a friend had when she came to the shop to visit ... after watching her use it for a while I decided I just had to give it a go around this page ... so there you have it ... not my bright idea at all! LOL But its hard to argue that these generous around the page border punches dont have a stunning impact.

Actually on the same day another friend came to visit and gave me that lovely lace you see on the bottom of the page, so all I needed to come up with was some wood flourishes, a few metallic leaves and that cute resin bird.

It was a fun layout to put together ... thanks for dropping by for a look!

Merry & Bright Cards

Just a few cards to share today... made with the Merry and Bright Collection. So even though this is ment to be a Christmas range with a difference, I have chosen to completely focus on the 'difference'!

I love the oriental feel of these papers and the 'baubles' make fabulous lanterns and give these cards a real festive feel. The perfect effect for birthday cards!!

I almost always use the 'Birthday' or 'Card Sentiments' Rub-ons from Kaisercraft when making cards. Occasionally I'll stamp the phrases but Rub-ons are just so easy ... a crime of connivence really! LOL

Well thanks for popping over for look, Have a great week.
Cheers from Kel.

Sat. Sketch #3 Nov 2012

Today I used the long time popular Class of 87' collection to do the Saturday Sketch over on the Kaisercraft Blog. School photos are always a challenge with the bright colours inevitably found in them, but they are fun to do and the kids just LOVE to look through these album pages!

I also used one of the new Templates put out by Kaisercraft... the tree template is nice on its own, but perfect to use as branches draping over onto a page. I used a distress ink and an ink blending tool to get this colour on using the template.

And of course there are literally hundreds of wood flourishes to choose from these days so finding a school one was easy. I definitely find myself wanting to put a wood flourish on every page I do these days! LOL

This is the sketch the layout was based on ....
Thanks for popping over for a look.

Sat. Sketch #2 Nov 2012

I was a little behind in my sketches so I'm doing them back to back to catch up!
This time I have used  the new Merry & Bright Collection to complete this sketch.

This is supposed to be a Christmas collection, but as you'll see from my next few posts you can get away with using this one on any theme. In fact I have not used this collection in a Christmas format at all in any of the projects I have been making with this range. It has a lovely oriental feel to it so thats the theme I've gone with as I'm all Christmased out now!!

I actually found the sketch a bit busy so I scaled the activity back for my layout ... which is not like me I know - but sometimes you have to try something different! LOL

Here is the sketch it's based on...

Thanks for taking time to drop by for a look.

Sat. Sketch #1 Nov 2012

For this Sat. Sketch I've used the 365 Days Collection ... this is a calendar collection, but a calendar is the only thing I haven't made with these lovely papers... yet!! LOL
I love this photo of my son... he couldn't actually play the guitar at this stage ... but he sure looked cool with it!
I have to take a second to thank Kaisercraft who now have sooooo many wood flourish shapes available that I could even find something as obscure as a guitar wood flourish to compliment this photo!

It was all based on this sketch:

Pickled Pear Paper Pad Gift Box

h

So today I challenge you to say the title to this post 10 times as fast as you can! Bhahahahaahah

Now that we have had a good laugh, I just wanted to share with you this groovy little gift box made from 2 bits of paper from the paper pad found in the Pickled Pear Collection

These simple boxes are so easy to make... I'll have to film a tutorial on how to do it as the Kaisercraft paper pads are just perfect for making these with.

It consists of two bits of paper folded in such a way that they fit together snuggly. Then I've stuck a length of ribbon to the bottom box that can tie up over the top, a few bits and bobs for decoration latter there you have an easy made gift box.

Tis the season to start thinking of these things ... I love this time of year in the blog world, now is the time we will start to see some really cool ideas pop up on blogs ... keep your eyes peeled folks! LOL

Pickled Pear Cards

Today I'm sharing some cards I have made from The Pickled Pear Collection ... just simple cards really, I used the paper pad, the collectables and some string ... not really much at all, but the cards are lovely and earthy and I'm sure will sell well on my little market stall.

I see some AMAZING cards out there in the blogosphere that totally inspire me, and probably the one person who has inspired me the most lately has been my mate Hilary from New Zealand... if you are able to you should definitely pop over and check out her work, she has a completely faithful style, constantly producing high quality beautiful projects that reflect her own love for paper craft.

Thanks for stoping by for a look.

Pickled Pear Layout

Today I have another Layout using the Pickled Pear Collection this time I just had a bit of fun creating a nice place in the 'garden' to sit this photo in ... that was the effect I was going for anyway!

The flowers are some lovely lemon ones that Manor House Creations put out a while ago ... I must admit I love these flowers with the Pickled Pear collection.

The little resin tulips are just something I found on ebay ... I'm really enjoying all the bit and pieces that are popping up at the moment in resin, it's a great medium for scrapbooks, adding dimension without too much weight!

Thanks for stoping for a look.
Cheers from Kel.

Sat. Sketch #4 Oct 2012

Oh my gosh I'm loving this new Pickled Pear Collection ... that has totally taken me by surprise... normally I'm drawn to all the pretty bright things like the Butterfly Kisses Collection , a by product of having 4 gorgeous girls to scrapbook I suppose ... but over the last few weeks of using this collection I've myself completely loving it ... all the beautiful rich earthy colours are just divine.

This is what I love the most about designing with all the kaisercraft collections, it challenges me to work with papers I would not normal be attracted to, and low and behold I find a new favourite in the most unexpected places. LOL

This layout was based on the sketch below ...
I'm a bit late this time with the sketch, but hey ... better late than never!!\

Thanks for looking ... cheers from Kel.
